A Whey Protein Born in the French Alps

This cocoa whey with no added sugar and no sweet taste is made from start to finish by Protéalpes in Albertville, in the heart of Savoie. The whey used as raw material is not purchased on the international market: it comes directly from the Union des Producteurs de Beaufort, a cooperative of small-scale farms located in the pastures of the Rhône-Alpes region.

The cows – Tarine and Abondance breeds, traditional breeds adapted to the mountain environment – graze at altitudes of up to 2,500 metres and are fed grass and hay from the local geographical area, with no GMOs. This mountain milk is the very milk used to make Beaufort cheese. The whey from this cheese production is then mechanically cold-filtered through microfiltration/ultrafiltration, and dried by spray-drying in a matter of milliseconds. No heat treatment is applied before drying: the proteins retain their native structure and their complete amino acid profile.

Protéalpes outsources nothing. Formulation, production and packaging are all carried out in-house, in Albertville, which guarantees full traceability – from the alpine pasture to the pouch delivered to your door.

A Deliberately Minimalist Formula

The ingredient list fits on a single line: whey protein isolate (85.5%), organic low-fat cocoa powder (13%), organic coconut flour. Nothing else.

No added sugar, and above all, no sweeteners to imitate its taste. No sucralose, no aspartame, no acesulfame K, no steviol glycosides. This is a deliberate choice: most "sugar-free" wheys on the market replace sugar with synthetic sweeteners. Protéalpes refuses this substitution. The result is a drink with an honest cocoa and whey flavour, unsweetened, that everyone can customise to their liking – with honey, plant-based milk, fruit, or simply as it is.

No lecithin either (usually extracted from soy using solvents), no thickeners, no artificial flavourings. The cocoa and coconut flour come from organic farming, certified by Ecocert (FR-BIO-01).

What's in Each Serving

Each 30 g serving provides 21.7 g of protein, 5.3 g of BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, valine) and only 116 kcal. The sugar concentration after mixing in the shaker is below 1.2%. The product contains less than 5% residual lactose and is gluten-free.

The amino acid profile is complete: all 9 essential amino acids are present, with a high leucine content (2.5 g per serving), a key amino acid in muscle metabolism.

Formulated by Pharmacists, Anti-Doping Certified

All Protéalpes formulas are developed by a team of pharmacists, who are themselves athletes and daily consumers of their own products. Each batch is certified compliant with the European sports standard NF EN 17444, which attests to the absence of doping contaminants – a critical point, given that around 15% of dietary supplements on the market contain banned substances (Geyer et al., Int J Sport Med, 2004).

In the Shaker and in the Kitchen

Pour 150 to 200 ml of liquid (water, milk, plant-based milk) into a shaker, add one serving using the measuring scoop provided, and shake. Its unsweetened taste and the complete absence of additives also make it an ideal base for pancakes, porridge, cakes and smoothies – with no risks linked to heating synthetic sweeteners.

Usage

When and How to Use

How to prepare your shaker?

First pour 150 to 200 ml of liquid (water, milk, plant-based milk, or a blend to your taste) into your protein shaker. Then add one serving using the measuring scoop.

Close the shaker and shake it up and down a few times. Finish with a few slow circular movements to blend everything together.

About foam: These formulas contain no lecithin or any other anti-foaming agent. A thin layer of foam may therefore form after shaking. This is a natural phenomenon, a sign of undenatured, high-purity protein. It disappears on its own within a few minutes. Tip: in warm weather, store your pouch in a cool place (cellar, refrigerator) to limit this effect.

When to take your whey protein?

After training : This is the key moment. Your muscle fibres have been put to work and your glycogen stores have been drawn upon. A supply of protein and carbohydrates in the minutes following exercise optimises the recovery window. The classic range, with its whole cane sugar, delivers this protein + carbohydrate duo in a single serving.

At breakfast : To break your overnight fast, support satiety, and start the day with a supply of essential amino acids.

As a snack : Between meals, to top up your daily protein intake without weighing down your plate.

Before bed : Whey contains tryptophan, an amino acid that is a precursor to melatonin. In this case, favour the no added sugars range to avoid any blood sugar spike that could disrupt falling asleep.

Much more than a shaker

Protealpes whey also lends itself to cooking: pancakes, cakes, porridges, smoothies, and many other recipes. Because these formulas are additive-free and sweetener-free, they can be heated without risk of releasing unwanted compounds, unlike proteins containing sucralose or other synthetic sweeteners.

For Whom

Physical exertion boosts muscle protein turnover. The more intense the workout, the greater the need for amino acids. Whey is the ideal solution: highly digestible, rich in BCAAs, and rapidly absorbed.

Strength Training & Fitness: To build or maintain muscle mass with over 21 g of protein per serving, without excess calories.

Endurance: Cycling, trail running, running, swimming—a high-quality protein intake after long workouts to support muscle adaptation.

Team & combat sports: High protein needs, often difficult to meet through diet alone when matches are back-to-back.

Weight management: Protein increases satiety and helps preserve muscle mass during periods of caloric deficit.

Anyone who is active: A simple solution to supplement insufficient daily protein intake.
